Utility pole readymades

by brad on Jul.15, 2009, under Cinema 4d, Rendering

This was a good all around C4D exercise. I utilized some Mograph and a lot of grouping hierarchies. In order to apply this to video and more diverse terrain, my next step will be to add some Xpresso in order to keep the poles pointing down. I’ll do this by mapping all all global coordinates except Y, which will have a constant value.

multi-projections at the lightbar

by brad on Feb.12, 2009, under Blog, Cinema 4d, Rendering, Video

As a side project, I have been working with Mykle Hansen to add some heads-up visuals at the annual Lightbar. This year there is a 5/8’s scale dome for all the artists to display their light oriented sculptures. We have had quite a few donations and now have 6 computers and 7 loaned projectors. We have stitched together a very large high resolution, distortion corrected visuals display. With lightbar’s opening week already behind us, this project will be on display late February and open to the public. Lightbar is around 27th and Killingsworth, you can’t miss it.

Python plug-in for Cinema 4d

by brad on Feb.06, 2009, under Cinema 4d

Cinema 4d is an open-architecture visuals app that does most everything efficiently for animation and motion graphics professionals. Add a Python Plug-in to an extremely popular do-it-all package which already comes in the box with bodypaint 3d, mograph, projection man and the versatile planning and directing tool, doodle, and you’re in for some serious productivity. Python is a C based scripting language already in use in major production houses such as Laika, and its broad use make it an ideal language to commit to your head. With this plug-in and other protocols such as OSC, creating sound-responsive videos like the popular ani-music 2 are probably possible on a larger scale.

Fun with Cinema4d hair

by brad on Nov.07, 2008, under Cinema 4d

The hair feature of Cinema 4d 10.5 allows for some realistic physics. This animation uses a polygon head I created using C4d and the jiggle feature.
